Oddball Stories: A Walking Tour

The City of Vincent has gone through many changes over its long history, from being the CBD’s industrial satellite in the early 20th century, to a working class artistic haven in the 70s and 80s, to the lush, greenspace focused family living hub it is today, there are countless stories from countless residences that are worth sharing; all we need to do is remember them!

Thankfully, the librarians at the Local History Centre have collected hundreds of oral histories that capture some of these oddball stories, like which rough and tumble kindergarten had new teachers on edge, which house was the goth party house, and what strange and unique theatrical performances took place in public parks.

Join Poemambulism’s Mar Bucknell and Local History Librarian Adam as they walk the storied streets of Vincent. The tour will start from Robertson Park, going down Brisbane and Lake streets, then looping back through Stuart Street Reserve.
