OERt Masterclass | Reacting and Responding: The Neuroscience of Emotional Intelligence
Description
As much as we tell ourselves to be less reactive, how often have you caught yourself reacting emotionally, rather than responding mindfully?
Ever wished you'd handled a situation differently? Learn how to pause, think clearly, and respond with greater confidence when it matters most.
We've all been there. A challenging conversation, unexpected setback, stressful situations, difficult decisions or a frustrating email that triggers an immediate reaction before we've had time to think. Sometimes we catch ourselves in the moment, while other times we only realise later that we could have responded differently.
This interactive workshop explores why we react the way we do and what helps us respond more thoughtfully under pressure. You'll gain practical insights into emotional intelligence, learn how to stay calmer in demanding situations, and discover simple techniques to improve your decision-making, communication, and self-awareness.
Whether you're leading a team, working with others, or simply looking to strengthen your everyday interactions, this session will provide useful takeaways that can be applied both professionally and personally.
Key areas that will be explored are:
Knowing when a quick reaction is helpful and when a considered response is the better choice.
The role empathy and self-awareness play in how we interact with others.
The neuroscience of our thought process and why we react by default.
Practical ways to pause, reflect, and respond more effectively.
Whether social media and AI generation are getting better or worse at reacting and responding.
If you've ever walked away from a conversation wishing you'd said or done something differently, this workshop is for you. Join us to gain practical tools that can help you navigate challenges, improve relationships, communicate more effectively, and approach situations with greater clarity and confidence.
