The Woollahra Philharmonic Orchestra opens their Pearl Anniversary Year with a program that reflects on experience, insight and the beauty that comes from thirty years of shared music making.

Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina Prelude sets the scene with its gentle unfolding of dawn, offering a moment of calm and contemplation.

Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 follows as a bright, vivacious centrepiece, showcasing Camilla Choi in a work filled with youthful sparkle, elegance and delightful rhythmic drive. Camilla, otherwise know as Mimi, first performed with the WPO in 2022 at the tender age of 9.

Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony brings the concert to its sweeping conclusion, its windswept melodies, atmospheric landscapes and noble themes inviting the listener to journey through memory, reflection and rediscovery.

Under the direction of Timothy Constable, this program invites audiences to celebrate wisdom in all its forms: quiet, radiant and hard won.

This concert will run for approximately 90 minutes including interval.
