Official Opening, Unfolding: A Forager's Guide to Mapping
Event description
Dear friends,
You are cordially invited to join us for the Official Opening of Unfolding: A Forager's Guide to Mapping, an exhibition held at Ellenbrook Arts as part of the IOTA Indian Ocean Craft Triennial, 2024.
Featuring new work by Jayne Argent, Kerrie Argent, Pip Rundle, Julia Sutton, Pauline White, and making use of natural materials and found objects, the artists have created work that maps their places, and tells the stories of
their connections to the land on which we live. The complement of foraged matter with found objects probes
the uneasy relationship between nature and culture, and maps this ancient land with our contemporary lives,
family, community, and sense of place. The work encompasses multi-disciplinary techniques including basketry, ceramics, fibre, textile, jewellery, metalsmithing and paper.
We welcome you to share this special occasion with us, and hear from our guest speaker, Dr. Laetitia Wilson.
Dr. Laetitia Wilson is a Perth-based arts writer, curator and art history lecturer with an interest in contemporary and media arts. Laetitia completed a PhD in Media Art theory in 2011 at the University of Western Australia.
