About the workshop

This Oil Painting Masterclass covers the fundamentals you will need to know to get started in painting with oil paints. Key topics covered in the workshop include:
Planning your painting
Essential materials
Mixing colours
Direct painting techniques
Understanding light and form
All materials are provided, with take-home starter kits available for purchase on request (reach out to the event host for more information).
Whether your new to art, or a seasoned artist looking to try out something new, this workshop will leave you with new skills that you can take home and apply to your own practice with confidence.
Along with some warm-up and technical activities, participants will work up to building their own oil painting based on this Bacon & Eggs painting! With a chance to paint their breakfast according to their own mood, this painting will serve as a reminder of everything participants have been able to achieve during the day.

"The workshop is an amazing experience for me, and it is the first time for me to touch oil painting. I feel very comfortable in the workshop. Saskia is so fantastic teacher and instructor and always very encouraging."
"This is a wonderful workshop for those who are ready to embark on a new creative journey. Our class had such a range of abilities including an art student, an art teacher, a sculptor, a photographer, people who have dabbled in painting and people who had never tried painting before. We all left with an artwork we were proud of. The presentation was thoughtful and organised with plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and build on your own experience. Saskia is a warm and generous teacher and her ability to offer individual guidance while keeping the group well paced was excellent. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and even though I didn’t know anyone I felt comfortable to engage with everyone and learn along with them. Thank you for a wonderful morning Saskia!"
