OIU Dialogue Series #5: The Curriculum Dialogue

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

At a time when Australia’s key education stakeholders, including schools and universities, are looking at ways to support teachers and students coming out of Covid , we plan to discuss the current curriculum and explore if it is fit for purpose to prepare our boys for the 21st century. The expectation is a St. Ignatius boy won’t be merely joining the workforce, but aiming to transform society.

The Curriculum Dialogue panel is Attila Brungs (OR89), UNSW Vice-Chancellor & President; David de Carvalho (OR80), CEO, Australian Curriculum Assessment And Reporting Authority; and Elvis Gleeson (OR2016), Founder/Director of tech start up Thorial, moderated by distinguished broadcaster and past parent Geraldine Doogue AO.

Our panelists will explore the current choices and challenges facing educators, parents and students when it comes to shaping their learning experiences.

  • Is the Curriculum fit for purpose to prepare our boys for a 21st century workforce ?
  • What knowledge, capabilities, attitudes and values do our students need ?
  • How do the experiences outside the classroom at Riverview enhance educational outcomes and give the student a sense of meaning and purpose?
  • What difference should the fact that Riverview is a Catholic school make to the curriculum?
