Old Ignatians’ Union Men’s Mental Health Series – Inaugural Event

As part of the OIU Mental Health Initiative, we are proud to launch the first event in our Mental Health Speaker Series. This series is about connection: hearing how others have managed their mental wellbeing post-career, breaking down stigma, and giving OIU members the chance to reconnect with old mates while talking openly about resilience and wellbeing.

Guest Speakers

• Ben Alexander – Former Wallaby (72 caps, 2008–2014)

• Peter Murphy – CEO NSW Rugby, Dual Olympian (Rowing, 1992 & 1996)

Ben and Peter will share their personal journeys—navigating life after elite sport, the challenges they faced, and their ongoing initiatives through Running for Resilience and Positive Rugby NSW.

Event Details

• Arrival: 6:00pm for a 6:30pm sharp start

• Format: 45-minute panel + Q&A

• Who can attend? OIU Members only (men’s event). If places remain, members may later invite a guest.

• Capacity: Strictly limited to 75 tickets – secure your spot early.

• Cost: Admission free; voluntary donations invited (link to follow)

• Food & Drinks: Cash bar available.

• Location: The Union Hotel (Private Room), 271 Pacific Highway, North Sydney (200m from Victoria Cross Metro Station)
