EPIC Families,

Join us for a field trip on Friday, September 27th for a field trip and tour of the Oklahoma State Capitol in Oklahoma City! We will take a one of a kind guided tour of the state capitol as well as explore the newly opened museum on the ground floor of the capitol. Students will learn about the history of the building, the art on display and the people of Oklahoma. Epic Field Trip COST:

  • Students: Free
  • Adults: Free
  • Parking: Free- Use the south or east visitor’s parking lots.

ITINERARY: We have two tour times to choose from on this date. Both tours and identical so please only reserve a spot for just one tour time.

ARRIVAL: When you arrive at the Capitol, you may park in either lot labeled “Visitor Parking.” Enter through the Visitor Entrance. Please be advised that the Tunnel Entrance requires stairs and is, therefore, not an accessible entrance for visitors with physical disabilities.

There is a security checkpoint that all visitors must clear before entering the building. Find a list of prohibited items here: Oklahoma Capitol Prohibited Items List

We will meet at The Guardian, a large bronze sculpture, just inside the security checkpoint. Restrooms are located near the Guardian and the gift shop. The tour takes around one hour.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE: Please check in with an Epic Family Engagement staff member who will be in Epic gear and located near The Guardian to receive a copy of the schedule. We’d also love to see you in your Epic gear!

10:00 Field Trip:

  • 9:30 Check In inside the capitol
  • 10:00-11:00 Tour (Please arrive on time as the tour starts promptly at 10:00am.)
  • 11:00-12:00 Visit the museum located on the ground floor.
  • 12:00 Lunch- Families are welcome to bring a sack lunch at eat at the tables in the Cafe area. The Cafe also has food to purchase for lunch. Lunch is optional.
  • 1:00 Field Trip Conclusion 

11:00 Field Trip:

  • 10:30 Check In inside the capitol
  • 11:00-12:00 Tour (Please arrive on time as the tour starts promptly at 11:00.)
  • 12:00-1:00 Visit the museum located on the ground floor or eat lunch. 
  • 12:00-1:00 Lunch- Families are welcome to bring a sack lunch and eat at the tables in the Cafe area. The Cafe also has food to purchase for lunch. Lunch is optional.
  • 1:00 Field Trip Conclusion

**12:00 Field Trip:

    This time is for students and families who would like to come but would like to walk around the capitol at your own pace. You will still check in by the statue The Guardian. You are welcome to join other Epic students and families at the Cafe for lunch at 12:00 or just begin your field trip time.

              Our field trips are student centered. We ask that you help us by allowing students to be toward the front of the tour and room. Parents and caregivers may be asked to be toward the back of the room so as to not obstruct the view for students.

              POLICIES: This Epic field trip is free. You will register using Humanitix which will hold your spot for the field trip as a reservation. Parents, please register yourself and each of your Epic students who will be participating. This enables the school and the location to staff and plan appropriately. Our field trips do have a maximum capacity. Therefore, we ask that when registering your students, you only register Epic enrolled Pre-K through 12th grade students so that the spots are filled by our students.

              Students cannot be dropped off to attend a field trip without a parent or guardian. You will need your student’s Epic ID number and teacher’s name when signing up for the field trip in Humanitix.

              This is a public event and photographs and or video may be taken during the activity. If you prefer your student to not have a photograph or video taken please let our Epic staff know during check in.

              Sensory Bags: Sensory bags will be available to check out for use at this event. Upon arrival, see any Epic Family Engagement team member to check a bag out and return all sensory bags to an Epic Family Engagement team member before leaving the event. There is a limited supply of sensory bags.

              CANCELLATIONS: As a reminder, if you sign up to come but are unable to make it, please cancel your reservation using your Humanitix confirmation email. This will open up spots for other families. Steps Here: Go to your Humanitix Confirmation Email. Click on "Manage Order", then Click "Refund/Cancel." Select ALL or manually select the tickets you need to cancel. Click the "Review" button, then Click the "Confirm" button.

              What is the inclement Weather Plan? If we have inclement weather, we will send out communication by email through Humanitix to let you know if the field trip has been canceled.
