Old Barney: Light of the Land
Event description
For decades Old Barny slept, until 2007 when its fire was restored and the tower’s light shined once more. Experience the juxtaposition of nature and man, and the beauty that exists in the space between
The Barnegat Lighthouse is an iconic landmark of the Jersey shore. Originally lit in 1859, this beacon of light has aided mariners in safely navigating the East coast until 1927 when the light was removed. For decades Old Barny slept, until 2007 when its fire was restored and the tower’s light shined once more. Barnegat Light State Park is dedicated to this landmark’s continuing legacy and is now habitat for many migrating shorebirds. A pair of Peregrine Falcons have even made the top of Old Barny home.
Gavin Wild invites you to wonder in awe under the shadow of Barnegat Light. He will teach you to capture the light that shines, not out of it, but on it! Experience the juxtaposition of nature and man, and the beauty that exists in the space between.
