Old Plates Birthday Week! Friday 15th with Asanti Beat
Event description
Everybody's favourite bar/record store Old Plates is celebrating their 3rd birthday with a full week of live music and revelry. Starting Monday August 11th, seven of Melbourne's finest bands are playing intimate shows across the week, with each night recorded by audio wizard Myles Mumford (Rolling Stock Recording Rooms). The recordings will then be turned into 7 x 7" records, the beginning of Old Plates as a record label. Each night will have very limited tickets available, a rare opportunity to experience incredible bands in an intimate setting and actually be a part of the recording. Applaud and you'll be a part of the 7" for all posterity!
Friday our Ghanaian family Asanti Beat are bringing their dual kora fueled West African manding and highlife grooves. Every week they bring us into the music, culture and food of Ghana, taking us on a trip through the backstreets of Accra without the need for a plane ticket. Undoubtedly our chef Kuukua Acquah step out from the kitchen to jump up to lead them for a couple of songs
Please note: ETA for 7" is approx 12 weeks, cost includes shipping within Australia
