Omics at Scale: Making Large-Scale Genomics More Accessible in Australia
Description
ABOUT THIS EVENT
Australia’s capacity for large-scale genomic research is about to grow significantly.
A new $10 million ultra-high-throughput genomics facility is being established at Flinders University in partnership with the South Australian Genomics Centre (SAGC), Bioplatforms Australia (enabled by NCRIS), and Decode Science. Powered by the MGI DNBSEQ-T20x2 sequencing platform and advanced laboratory automation, the facility is designed to deliver unprecedented sequencing capacity and cost efficiencies for Australian researchers.
To demonstrate its capability from day one, the facility plans to offer 5,000 human whole genome sequences at no cost to eligible Australian universities and research institutes.
This seminar introduces the new facility and explores how greater scale and affordability can support more ambitious research across:
genomics · transcriptomics · epigenomics · metagenomics · single-cell · spatial biology
SPEAKER
Joel Bathe
Business Development Manager
South Australian Genomics Centre (SAGC)
Joel will walk through the facility’s capabilities, the partnership model behind it, and what this means for research access and sequencing costs in Australia.
