    Event description

OMNIBUS is a multichannel ambisonic system designed for sensory and immersive sound experiences. Live performance is where the power of multichannel configuration enables all kinds of creative choices. Immersing the audience in a 360-degree sound field, they are invited to engage more actively with the audio environment. This setup allows for dynamic movement within the space, as sound can be positioned and manipulated to create unique auditory perspectives.

With a selection of established and emerging performing Artists, and the distinct ambience of the Norla Dome, we launch our first public showcase. Artists have been given the tools to manipulate sound Live on the OMNIBUS Ambisonic system, closely collaborating with technicians to elevate concepts into the 360 field.

    Artists for this iteration:

InKāla is a new transmedia creative collective committed to experiences that transcend boundaries. Drawing upon a rich tapestry of cultures, employing a multidisciplinary approach that merges cutting-edge techniques at the forefront of art, design, and technology. For this iteration we will be exploring parallels in Doppler Effect and Red/Blue shifting: incorporating lighting, lasers and colour theory, showcasing the potential for deep synesthetic integration and immersion with ambisonic audio.

MaggZ is a Naarm-based (Melbourne, Australia) movement artist, creative director and producer-researcher of Chinese-minority descent. Rooted at the intersection of street dance, site-specific installation, technology and sound, extending into somatic and relational research and community-building, MaggZ’s practice is hybrid, timeless and unapologetic as they constantly outbox themselves. MaggZ’s soundscape is deeply intimate, visceral, tender and penetrative, with the influence of ambient, experimental electronic sound, reggaeton and jungle.

AHM is the solo project of Andrew Huhtanen McEwan, audio engineer and producer and member of various bands including Tongue Dissolver and Huntly.
