Omniversal Hum: Essendon Airport, Alexander Garsden, Bridget Small (dj)
Event description
Omniversal Hum x Hope St Radio present Essendon Airport, Alexander Garsden and Bridget Small (dj).
Enter the delightfully abstract and beautiful sound world of the iconic and influential Australian post-punk, minimal, electronic band Essendon Airport. Formed in 1978, founding members David Chesworth (electric piano and drum machine) and Robert Goodge (guitar) explored experimental composition with an approach likened to minimalism in both instrumental design and song form. With a modest set of tools Essendon Airport created two landmark Australian music gems in 1979's Sonic Investigations (Of the Trivial) and Palimpsest from 1981. The band circled around St Kilda's Crystal Ballroom scene as well as the intriguing world of the Clifton Hill Community Music Centre aka CHCMC which is recenetly well documented via David Chesworth's 'Listening to the Archive' site.
Essendon Airport will perform new material as well as revisit some very early material.
Alexander Garsden will perform his indefinable, cosmic and at times bewildering solo guitar music.
Bridget Small will be on recorded music before, between and after live perdormances.
