    Event description

Join artists of BodyPlaceProject for the start of our ngurrak barring residency, On Country/In Residence!

Wednesday 16th October 10.30am - Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Knowledge Holder Dr Mandy Nicholson – Karwarra Nursery, Kalorama

‘On Country/In Residence’ is a mobile artist residency initiated by BodyPlaceProject. Site-responsive artists: Gretel Taylor, Gulsen Ozer, Laki Sideris, Tammy Wong Hulbert, Jill Orr, Aarti Jadu, Mandy Nicholson and Rebecca Murray intend to walk together across Corhanwarrabul, the Dandenong Ranges, over three days, sharing place-based creative practices and listening to Country. We will then develop artworks for an exhibition in 2025.

You are invited to join us for the first hour of the walk, from Karwarra to Five Ways/Kalorama Park via the May Moon Track.

Note, this is not a loop track. From Five Ways, you can then walk back in your own time or catch a ride on Bus 688 along Mt Dandenong Tourist Road (bring your Myki!)

It is an easy to moderate walk. Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather, as well as water and snacks.

You can find out more about BodyPlaceProject here and follow On Country/In Residence via our online journal here

BodyPlaceProject is supported by Yarra Ranges Council through a Partnership, Arts and Heritage grant and a ngurrak barring residency. On Country/In Residence project has also been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
