On Country professional’s webinar was designed to support our professional community and explore key issues for First Nations financial wellbeing. The webinar also offers an opportunity to chat with First Nations Foundation staff and other professionals.

Joining us for this month's webinar we have Charlene Benson from NAB, Qld Associate Director Indigenous Business & Community Banking. Her territory covers north to the Torres Strait, west to the NT Border and south to the Tweed River, capturing all islands off the Qld coast and Torres Strait.

Across her 30+ year career, Charlene has most recently held a Senior Banker role in NAB regional Queensland and is the first Qld State Lead for Indigenous Business as part of the NAB’s RAP commitment. Charlene’s role engages solely and directly with Indigenous business and community clients, regardless of size/stage of cycle of their business operations.

The specialisation assists business clients with education, access to capital, connection to on-ground bankers, as well as connecting clients with industry partners and services relevant to their business.

The goal of Indigenous business specialisation is to provide avenues for self-empowered on country and in community, to create sustainable Indigenous businesses, organisations and communities.

Charlene has knowledge and acumen across many business industry types and locations and has a very hands-on knowledge of regional economic environments and issues that impact on business opportunities.

Charlene’s passion is to help empower Indigenous business owners & corporations with knowledge, connections and assistance to help them thrive as a business and enable contribution back to community.
