On-Country with Gorenang Moortabiin: Challenging Cultural Perspectives
Event description
Challenging Cultural Perspectives
Gorenang Moortabiin is hosting a two-night on country intensive and immersive workshop, exploring deeper understanding and connection for participants at Koikyennuruff (Stirling Range) - a place of cultural significance for local Menang and Goreng people.
This is more than a simple cultural awareness workshop. This unique event will provide participants with a deeper knowledge of contemporary challenges faced by Aboriginal people. We will cover discussions of discomfort, encourage hard questions, challenge the paradigm of typical cultural awareness and provide meaningful tools and insights for participants to carry forward and apply within their organisations.
Is this for Me?
The workshop is tailored to decision and policy makers within agencies and businesses across Western Australia. Specifically, those working for agencies and organisations that employ and/or deliver services to Aboriginal people.
This workshop is for Perth participants only. The program starts and ends at Kaarta Gar-up/ Kaarta Koomba (Kings Park) and as the bus journey is an interactive part of the delivery it is a compulsory element of the program. Follow up events will be offered for other regional areas.
Ticket prices include meals, accommodation, and transport by bus to and from Stirling Range.
