ON FOOT in the High Country – King Cassilis

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Iconic King Cassilis is a big part of the gold rush story of East Gippsland, but there is much more to discover. Join Omeo Historical Society’s Graeme Deveson and Sally Doyle for a walk and talk about the gold mining activities along Long Gully.

This is a 1km walk and classed as a grade 3 walk with steep sections. Covered shoes or boots are required; dress warm, bring a hat and water.

Meet at Tongio West, the junction of Cassilis Road and Charlotte Spur Road, about 10kms out of Swifts Creek or 20km from Omeo. There will be an On Foot in the High Country sign + a high vis jacket on display. We will drive into the King Cassilis from Tongio West. Sedans can park and get a lift in if needed.

The walk is free, but numbers are limited so booking is essential.

The ON FOOT in the High Country Walking series is funded by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal.
