On Foot in the Gorge in Glenaladale will have two events on the 2nd and the 9th of July from 9 am until 2.30 pm incorporating tree planting, environmental education, forest therapy, sound meditation, and nature photography, finishing with a delicious shared lunch.

Start your day by meeting at the farm gate and walking to the gorge. There you’ll plant indigenous seedlings to help rehabilitate remnant bushland.
Get your hands dirty and give back to the land. We’ll then venture into the gorge for morning tea and wander through the paddocks where local environmental expert, Matt Stephenson, will provide a multi-generational history of the farm. The environmental education includes interactive conversations in relation to threatened species, flora, and fauna attributes of the landscape and will cover Landcare’s efforts to restore and rehabilitate landscapes similar to those found on the property.

While we wander the bushland take the opportunity to learn some basic photography tips and tricks with Rosie, focusing on composition, light and subject matter in nature. Bring anything to capture an image with, from a phone to an SLR camera, and enjoy a practical photography session in a beautiful environment.

Enjoy capturing your time in nature and improve your skills with our practice nature photography session. As we travel through the gorge you’ll get the opportunity to learn about light, angles, and perspective.

Then we’ll fully immerse ourselves in the gorge through a sensory forest therapy walk, slowing down to appreciate our natural surroundings with Jo Byers, Sol Synergy. Forest Therapy while traveling through the gorge is a practice that includes learning about nature, engaging active imagination, and creative expression, and interacting with natural elements like animals, trees, and rivers. The benefits of spending time in nature are cumulative, the more time we spend in nature the better we feel.

Then we’ll drop into a deep listening, sound meditation embracing instruments and natural sounds. Sound meditation provides the space to relax while listening to the sounds of nature and instruments in a natural gorge alongside a gently flowing creek.

After a full morning, we will then finish up with a shared lunch.

The event offers a unique and diverse experience in one of East Gippsland's hidden gems with local facilitators who want to share their passion, love, and knowledge of our natural spaces, the environment, and our flora and fauna.

The event is for participants over 12yrs and requires a medium level of fitness due to uneven paths and some tripping hazards and steep tracks. The event will go ahead unless the weather is extreme so be sure to rug up and bring a raincoat! Please advise of dietary requirements.

Tickets are limited and funds will be donated back into local environmental projects.
