Event description

Before we can build the future we must imagine it.

Join the Heurich House Museum on Thursday, June 26th from 5-7pm during Civic Season for a collaborative community art experience: “On Our 250th” Wish Wall for America

“On Our 250th” is a collaborative collection of birthday wishes by citizens for the United States as we celebrate 250 years as a nation and democracy. Write your hope, vision, or dream for the nation on a ribbon and tie it to our outdoor Wish Wall—an evolving colorful tapestry installation on the historic ironwork along Sunderland Place. The installation aims to transform individual voices into a collective expression of civic spirit and imagination.

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History will kick off Civic Season with a 28-foot mural that invites visitors to add their wish to a time capsule that will be opened in 2075. Check out participating museums and historic sites across the country by contributing to their Wish Wall!

The Biergarten will be open from 4-8pm, enjoy a local craft beverage before or after participating in the Wish Wall!

What is Civic Season?

July 4th commemorates the moment a new nation was born, based on ideals that each generation since has worked to bring to life: freedom, equality, justice, and opportunity. Juneteenth, celebrated just a few weeks earlier, reminds us of the struggles and hard-won victories in our ongoing journey to form a “more perfect union.” Civic Season unites our oldest federal holiday with our newest, mobilizing a movement to understand our past and shape our future. The Heurich House is one of multiple sites across the nation participating in Civic Season from Juneteenth to July 4th.
