After years of filming across Australia, On The Fence is coming to the Blue Mountains for a special one-night-only screening — and this region is more than just another stop on the tour.

Parts of the film were shot here in the Blue Mountains region, in landscapes where dingoes still remain part of the local environment. For people who live here, this isn’t a distant conservation issue playing out somewhere in the outback — dingoes are part of the surrounding landscape, and the questions explored in On The Fence are especially relevant.

Spanning thousands of kilometres across Australia, the film features leading dingo researchers, conservationists, First Nations voices, landholders and people who live and work alongside dingoes.

At the centre of the story is the 5,600-kilometre Dingo Fence and the extraordinary divide it represents.

In some parts of Australia, dingoes have been heavily controlled or removed from the landscape. In places like the Greater Blue Mountains region, healthy dingo populations still persist nearby — giving local communities a very different relationship with Australia’s largest land predator.

On The Fence explores what dingoes mean for Australian ecosystems, their deep cultural significance, the realities faced by livestock producers, and the ongoing debate over how we should live alongside them.

Rather than telling audiences what to think, the film brings together the science, history, culture and lived experience surrounding the dingo and asks a much bigger question:
