Incorporated Societies Law update and Constitution Builder
Event description
Attention all incorporated societies – new law alert!
Waimakariri District Council, in partnership with Community Law Canterbury, is running this workshop to help our local community groups learn more about the new Incorporated Societies Act. Volunteer Committee members – or managers – of local incorporated societies are welcome to attend.
The registration fee is per organisation and you can send up to two people.
The workshop will be run in two parts:
The first part 10.30am – 11:45am Â
This part of the workshop will explain the new Act and outline the four jobs every incorporated society will need to do. We’ll also cover the key changes that groups will need to make. Â
This session will repeat some of the information provided at last year’s session. For those of you who attended last year’s workshop, you’re welcome to skip this session.
The second part 12.00pm – 1:00pm Â
This part will look at the options available to groups who are ready to update their constitutions.  We’ll show you the options, explain the advantages and disadvantages of each, and help you identify the best option for your group. Â
If you attended last year’s workshop and are already familiar with the new law, you’re welcome to register for just this part of the session.
Attendance
The workshops are available to managers and volunteer Committee members of local incorporated societies. Â
The workshop will not be open to lawyers, accountants or advisors to the sector.Â
