Working with Adolescent Violence in the Home
Training Overview:
This one-day training is designed to provide practitioners with a deeper understanding of adolescent violence in the home, with a specific focus on early intervention, understanding the Gillick Principle, and how to support both the young person and their family. The training will explore the causes, signs, and impacts of adolescent violence, as well as strategies for effective intervention and support.
Training Outcomes:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the concept of adolescent violence in the home and recognise its different forms and tactics.
- Identify the underlying causes and risk factors of adolescent violence.
- Apply the Gillick Principle to determine whether an adolescent is capable of giving informed consent to interventions (case studies).
- Develop intervention strategies and understand the roles practitioners play in addressing violence in the home.
- Use effective communication techniques to engage with young people and families in conflict situations effectively. Tools for starting parent conversations.
- Recognise the impact of adolescent violence on both the young person and their family, and advocate for appropriate services.
- Understand safeguarding and potential child protection protocols in cases of adolescent violence.
