    One Day Retreat with Ajahn Brahm

    Sunday 18 February | 9:30AM - 5:00PM AEDT

    Location: Santi Forest Monastery, 100 Coalmines Rd, Bundanoon NSW 2578

    Entry: Free

    Dress: Modest (it can be quite cool in the Southern highlands so please bring a jacket)

    Santi Forest Monastery (https://santifm.org/santi/) and Metta Centre are honoured to host Ajahn Brahm for his Sydney tour, 16-18 February 2024. The tour begins with a public talk on the Power of Stillness on 16 February followed by a Day of Practice on the benefits of Stillness led by Ajahn Brahm on 17 February. In the evening, you can join us for a Gala Dinner as we fundraise for Santi Forest Monastery’s latest project: a suburban nuns’ residence. On 18 February, you can meditate with Ajahn Brahm and listen to his sermons at Santi Forest Monastery in Bundanoon - a unique opportunity to deepen your practice.

    One Day Retreat: On this special one day retreat, Ajahn Brahm will offer dhamma talks to deepen your meditation practice and guide you towards insights followed by Q&A sessions. The retreat offers all participants the rare opportunity to meditate with Ajahn Brahm. Participants can enjoy Bushwalking to the Big Cave in the tranquil surroundings of the monastery which is adjacent to the Morton National Park.

    This is a Free event but registration is essential as limited seats available !
    Helpful items to bring along : Good walking shoes, hat, water bottle (some meditation mats,cushions and chairs are provided)
    This free event is fully catered (lunch & refreshments)

    Talk 1 – A journey to inner peace – Stillness paves the way.
    Talk 2 – Wisdom born of stillness – deep insights and their benefits

    Program:

    9:00 AM - for 9:30am start
    9:30 AM - Introduction, opening chanting and guided meditation
    10:00 AM - First session - Dhamma talk
    11:00 AM - Lunch
    1:30 PM - Second session - Dhamma discussion Q&A 
    3:00 PM - Break
    3:30 PM - Final session - Dhamma talk and guided meditation
    4:45 PM - Closing remarks, dedication of merits
    5:00 PM - End

    About the presenter:  Ajahn Brahmavamso Mahathera (known to most as Ajahn Brahm) is a revered spiritual guide regularly drawing multinational audiences of thousands. He has been a monk for nearly 50 years and a disciple of the famous meditation master Ajahn Chah from Thailand. Prior to becoming a monk, he was a scholar at Cambridge University in theoretical physics. Currently Ajahn Brahm is the Abbot of Bodhinyana Monastery in Serpentine and the Spiritual Director of the Buddhist Society of Western Australia. The BSWA supports Dhammaloka Buddhist Centre, Bodhinyana Monastery, Dhammasara Monastery, and Jhana Grove Meditation Retreat Centre. Ajahn Brahm has rendered extensive service to the Buddhist communities around the world and he is the founding Chair of the Australian Sangha Association, a peak body representing all Buddhist monks and nuns in Australia. 

    Ajahn Brahm has authored some popular books: Opening the Door of Your Heart (a.k.a. Who Ordered This Truckload of Dung? ) – this book has been translated into 24 languages with a variety of titles! - Mindfulness, Bliss and Beyond, The Art of Disappearing, and Don’t Worry, Be Grumpy (a.k.a.
