One Night in CYKAS: A Bird Tribute
Event description
On the 15th and 16th of May 1950, the Charlie Parker Quartet featuring Bud Powell and Fats Navarro played a gig in the infamous 'Birdland' in New York. Without their knowledge, these performances were recorded by a member of the audience, later being released to the public in 1977. The Rhythm Section teams up with Dan Quigley and Lachie Alexander, led by drummer Evan J. Evans, to pay homage to that night, exploring the same set of music that Parker played all the way back in the 50s.
