Description

THTA has partnered with the Queensland Hotels Association (RTO 30826) to provide a nationally recognised online training program for Food Safety Supervisors (SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006).

In Tasmania, all licensed food businesses must have an accessible Food Safety Supervisor (FSS). The Food Safety Supervisor qualification must have been attained within the last five years, as there was previously no expiry date on the certificates. The best practice is a business should nominate a Primary and a Secondary Food Safety Supervisor for each site/premises.

The training for Food Safety Supervisors encompasses the following units:

  • SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety &

  • SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices

For enrolment, assessment or payment assistance, please call QHA on (07) 3221 6999

Enrolment

Enrol at any time throughout the year! You have 12 months to complete. Cost is $150.

Once you have registered your interest via Humanitix, you will be sent a link via email to complete your enrolment form and payment through our training partner's website (Queensland Hotels Association).

Once this is complete, you will then be provided with the online link to access the module.

Food Safety Supervisor (SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006)

From December 2023, certain food services, caterers and retail businesses must appoint at least one Food Safety Supervisor (FSS).

The role of the FSS is to minimise the risk of customers becoming ill from food because of incorrect food handling. The FSS provides expertise and guidance to food handlers in the business by identifying and implementing procedures to address food safety risks.

  • in nationally recognised units of competency

  • every 5 years

FAQs

  • Why do I need to provide my USI and a copy of my ID?

For accredited training in Australia, training providers generally ask for both a Unique Student Identifier (USI) and proof of identity because they serve different purposes.

    • USI: Your USI is your individual education number for nationally recognised training. It allows your training achievements to be recorded against your national training record. Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) generally need a valid USI before they can issue nationally recognised qualifications or statements of attainment.

    • Identity: Proof of identity means the training provider in this case our partner Queensland Hotels Association (QHA) confirm that it is in fact the person enrolling and completing the training. It can also be needed to verify enrolment information, meet government reporting requirements, and ensure details such as your legal name and date of birth are recorded correctly.

    • Why both? A USI identifies your training record, while identity documents verify who you are. Having a USI on its own doesn't necessarily satisfy all identity-verification requirements.

So essentially, the USI links your accredited training to your national training record, while ID allows us to verify identity and enrolment details.

The QHA enrolment with these details must happen so that certification can be formally issued for competence in the FSS unit.
