*ONLINE: Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) (SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006)

THTA has partnered with the Queensland Hotels Association (RTO 30826) to provide a nationally recognised online training program for Food Safety Supervisors (SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006).

In Tasmania, all licensed food businesses must have an accessible Food Safety Supervisor (FSS). The Food Safety Supervisor qualification must have been attained within the last five years, as there was previously no expiry date on the certificates. The best practice is a business should nominate a Primary and a Secondary Food Safety Supervisor for each site/premises.

The training for Food Safety Supervisors encompasses the following units:

• SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety &

• SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices

Enrol at any time throughout the year! You have 12 months to complete. Cost is $150.

Once you have registered your interest via Humanitix, you will be sent a link via email to complete your enrolment form and payment through our training partner's website (Queensland Hotels Association).

Once this is complete, you will then be provided with the online link to access the module.

From December 2023, certain food services, caterers and retail businesses must appoint at least one Food Safety Supervisor (FSS).

The role of the FSS is to minimise the risk of customers becoming ill from food because of incorrect food handling. The FSS provides expertise and guidance to food handlers in the business by identifying and implementing procedures to address food safety risks.

• in nationally recognised units of competency

• every 5 years
