WHAT THE COURSE COVERS
Mental Health First Aid is a practical, skills-based education program that equips adults in the workplace with the skills and confidence needed to recognise and respond to a co-worker or another adult experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
Topics covered include:
- depression and anxiety
- psychosis
- substance use problems
Mental health crisis covered include:
- suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- panic attacks
- traumatic events
- severe psychotic states
- severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
- aggressive behaviours
COURSE COMPONENTS
Component 1:
3-4hrs self-paced eLearning component
Component 2:
1 x 4hr zoom sessions led by an accredited and experienced MHFA in the workplace Instructor

ABOUT THE TRAINER
Sonja Bottern has considerable experience in senior roles, leading and managing large teams. Her qualifications include both Social Work and teaching and she has worked in the mental health sector for 25yrs.
Sonja also runs a variety of other training like ASIST (suicide prevention), safeTALK (Suicide Awareness) and all the other MHFA trainings.
