Online Poetry Feedback Workshop

Poetry Lovers Perth’s online evening poetry feedback workshops run monthly every second Wed via Microsoft Teams. Limited to ten participants to ensure you get the maximum feedback on your poetry. Whether you want to improve your poetry for competitions, performance, journal submissions, or your poetry manuscript, this accessible online workshop offers supportive encouragement and constructive feedback poets. Facilitated by Jake Dennis @PoetOfJazz whose prize-winning poetry was published in over twenty-five publications across twelve countries last year.

Workshop Facilitator: Jake Dennis is a Burmese-Australian entertainer (singer, poet, actor) and educator based in Boorloo/Perth. JD’s prize-winning poetry has been published regularly across local and international arts publications since 2005. What should I prepare? Please have one poem ready on your device for sharing with participants for feedback or email it to the facilitator jakedennis@hotmail.com before the workshop.

What kind of feedback will I receive? You may request any level of constructive feedback and/or supportive encouragement you wish to receive on your poem. Participants will receive an equal share of feedback time. Consider the length of the poem you bring and the time it will take to be read.

What skill-level is required to attend? Open to all levels of poetry lovers from beginners to experienced. Everyone is encouraged to share and contribute their unique knowledge, skills, and ideas.  

What kind of feedback should I provide to others? Suggestions for improvement and encouragement are always valuable.

Technical Requirements? Download Microsoft Teams ahead of the meeting and ensure you have your poem on the same device. Provide your contact number ahead of time so you can be contacted for support. Strong internet connection recommended. 

Is this open to all-ages? Adult content and references may a part of the poetry discussed. Participants are advised to provide trigger warnings where needed.

Late Cancellation/Refunds? 48 hours noticed required to allow for your spot to be made available to another poet. Due to the administrative costs involved no refunds will be provided for no shows.
