Sergeant Dave Mitchell is the Cybercrime Training and Prevention Section supervisor and has 23 years policing experience (UK and SA). Working alongside Dave is Constable Max Allison who has been a police officer for 6 years and has a background in country policing and assisting victims of crime as a Victim Contact Officer.
The Cybercrime Training and Prevention section is responsible for increasing public awareness of cybercrimes and providing crime prevention advice to South Australian communities and businesses. They are also responsible for the organisational uplift in relation to SAPOL’s capability regarding cybercrime investigations. Both Dave and Max are passionate about educating on cybercrime and online safety to help people protect themselves online.
Max and Dave will outline the current cybercrime landscape and explain in detail how the most common scams work. Whilst sharing victim stories, they will share prevention strategies to help keep you and your families safe online. Other topics will include;
