FASD and anxiety

This session focuses on understanding anxiety in children and young people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). We will look at why anxiety may be common in FASD, how it can present through behaviour, avoidance, distress or increased need for control, and explore practical ways carers can reduce anxiety, increase predictability and support children and young people to feel safer and more confident in everyday situations.

This session is presented by Prue Walker, an experienced social worker specialising in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). The series is designed for permanent care and adoptive families, with each 20-minute session focusing on a different aspect of FASD, followed by time for questions and discussion.

Permanent Care and Adoptive Families is a member-based not-for-profit organisation passionately supporting families brought together through permanent care, kinship care, and adoption.
