On the Air: The Music They Heard
Description
On the Air
Tune in, step back in time and rediscover the songs that brought us together.
Join the Port Macquarie Hastings Municipal Band for an afternoon of memorable music, nostalgia and remembrance, celebrating a century of Australian service through the songs that filled our homes and airwaves.
From WWI and WWII through Korea, Vietnam and more recent conflicts and peace keeping missions, follow the changing soundtrack of the generations. As the family wireless gave way to transistor radios and the sounds of a new era, music continued to lift spirits, connect loved ones and bring a little piece of home to those far away.
Enjoy familiar favourites, discover something new and hear the music of the decades brought to life by your local community band. With moments of joy, reflection and heartfelt tribute, On the Air honours those who served and the music that accompanied Australians through extraordinary times.
Bring your family and friends, share the memories and join us for an afternoon where every era has a story and every song takes you somewhere.
