Programme Dates & Times

The OOPSI Practitioner Programme takes place across four live online sessions over two weeks:

Session 1: Monday 23 November 2026
Session 2: Wednesday 25 November 2026
Session 3: Monday 30 November 2026
Session 4: Wednesday 2 December 2026

Overview

Shared understanding matters more than ever.

OOPSI is a flexible and easy-to-use collaboration framework that helps Agile and Product teams cut through complexity, focus on value, and deliver with confidence. Drawing on proven practices from product management, Lean, Agile, Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), and automated testing, it connects business outcomes directly to concrete examples and data through five steps: Outcomes, Outputs, Process, Scenarios and Inputs.

The OOPSI Practitioner Programme is for people who want to develop a deeper understanding of OOPSI, gain hands-on experience of using the framework, and build the confidence to start applying it with their own teams, organisations or clients.

The programme combines four highly interactive online sessions across two weeks, followed by two OOPSI Practitioner sessions where the cohort comes back together to share experiences, discuss questions and challenges, and continue learning as you start putting OOPSI into practice.

Across the four core sessions, we'll explore the principles behind OOPSI, work hands-on with the OOPSI process patterns and apply them to real-world examples. We'll look at OOPSI at different scales and in different contexts, including its relationship with complexity, BDD and specification-driven development, as well as the opportunities emerging around OOPSI and AI-assisted software delivery.

There'll be plenty of hands-on practice, discussion and opportunities to work with other participants, alongside practical guidance on introducing and facilitating OOPSI in your own context.

The programme is limited to 16 participants, giving us plenty of space to work together, practise and learn from each other's experience. The follow-up sessions provide an opportunity to reconnect once you've started applying OOPSI and begin building a community of practitioners who can continue to share experiences and learn from OOPSI in practice.

What you'll take away

By the end of the programme, you'll have:

  • A deeper understanding of OOPSI and the principles behind it, and how Outcomes, Outputs, Process, Scenarios and Inputs work together as a connected whole.

  • Hands-on experience of the OOPSI process patterns, working collaboratively with realistic examples and situations.

  • Practical ways to connect outcomes to delivery, maintaining the thread from the value you're trying to create through to concrete examples and the data that drives them.

  • Experience of using OOPSI at different scales and levels of complexity, and adapting the approach to suit the context you're working in.

  • An understanding of how OOPSI connects with BDD, complexity thinking and specification-driven development, and where these approaches complement each other.

  • Ideas for combining OOPSI and AI, using shared understanding and structured artefacts to provide richer context for AI-assisted development.

  • Practical approaches to introducing and facilitating OOPSI, with the confidence and resources to start using it with your own teams, organisations or clients.

Who’s it for?

The OOPSI Practitioner Programme is for people working across Product, Engineering, Analysis, Testing, Agile and Delivery who want practical ways to build shared understanding and improve collaboration across the whole delivery lifecycle.

It will be particularly relevant for:

  • Product Managers and Product Owners

  • Business Analysts

  • Developers and Engineering Leads

  • Testers and Quality Engineers

  • Agile Coaches and Delivery Leads

  • Facilitators and consultants working with cross-functional teams

You might already be familiar with approaches such as BDD, Example Mapping, Specification by Example, Story Mapping or Lean Product Development, or OOPSI itself may be completely new to you.

Programme Outline

Session 1: OOPSI Overview and Underlying Principles

We'll explore the problems OOPSI is designed to address, where it fits and the principles that underpin it.

We'll then step through Outcomes, Outputs, Process, Scenarios and Inputs, looking at how the five elements connect and how OOPSI creates a flow from business outcomes through to concrete examples and data.

Session 2: OOPSI Process Patterns in Practice

A highly interactive, hands-on session working with the OOPSI process patterns.

Using real-world examples, exercises and breakout sessions, we'll practise the patterns, explore how they work together and experience the collaborative conversations and artefacts they create.

Session 3: OOPSI in Context

We'll broaden the view and look at how OOPSI can be used in the large and in the small, and across different levels of complexity.

We'll explore Cynefin and complexity, BDD and specification-driven development, along with the opportunities for combining OOPSI with AI and how the structured understanding created through OOPSI can support AI-assisted software delivery.

Session 4: Getting Started with OOPSI

We'll bring everything together and focus on taking OOPSI into practice.

We'll explore where and how to start, practical approaches to introducing OOPSI, and facilitation practices for working with teams. There'll be opportunities for practice, review, questions and discussion, before identifying your own next steps for using OOPSI.

Follow-up OOPSI Practitioner Sessions

After the four core sessions, we'll come back together for two 60-minute follow-up Practitioner sessions, approximately one month and three months after the core programme.

These give you the opportunity to share what you've tried, bring questions and real-world challenges, learn from the experiences of the rest of the cohort and continue developing your OOPSI practice.

Dates and times will be agreed with the cohort to make them as accessible as possible.
