📍 Sherbrooke Forest Circuit
📅 Saturday 5 Sep 2026
🕙 Meet at 10:00am at Sherbrooke Forest Circuit Start (intersection of Glen Harrow Heights Road and Old Monbulk Road)

Join us for a relaxed and social group hike through one of the Dandenong Ranges' most iconic forests. The Sherbrooke Forest Circuit winds through towering Mountain Ash and ancient fern gullies, taking in Sherbrooke Falls along the way. A classic Victorian bushwalk that feels a world away from the city.

This event is designed for people who enjoy getting outdoors, meeting new people, and challenging themselves at their own pace. Whether you're a regular hiker or just getting started, you're welcome to join.

This is an adult-only (18+) event. Unfortunately we're unable to accommodate pets, though registered assistance animals are welcome. Dogs aren't permitted within Sherbrooke Forest, part of Dandenong Ranges National Park.

Walk Difficulty

This is considered a moderate walk, with steady ascents and a couple of steeper pinches to get the heart rate up.

Approx. 12km loop
Well-formed forest tracks with roots and some uneven ground
Around 692m total elevation gain
Allow around 4 hours depending on pace
A reasonable base level of fitness recommended

We'll take breaks as needed, including a stop at Sherbrooke Falls, and keep the group together.

Getting There

Sherbrooke Forest is about 45 minutes' drive from Melbourne CBD, depending on traffic. Public transport options nearby are limited, so we'd recommend driving or carpooling.

Parking is available near the Sherbrooke Forest Circuit Start.

Carpooling is encouraged for those who'd like to share a ride. We'll share an optional WhatsApp group link closer to the date so attendees can coordinate lifts directly amongst themselves. Please note the carpool arrangements are between individuals, and Oot & Aboot isn't involved in organising specific rides. Joining is completely optional. Your phone number may be visible to other members and the group will be deleted 3 days after the event.
