Open Christchurch 2021: Millstream Apartments
Event description
OPEN CHRISTCHURCH 2021: Millstream Apartments
Architect: Peter Beavan, 2001
Further proof of Peter Beavan’s advocacy for urban multi-residential apartment living, this building occupies a coveted corner site in leafy surrounds. Continuity of tradition in architecture was important for both the architect and client, the latter using it as a place to stay when visiting from Korea to play golf. The heavy, massive masonry of Oamaru stone and concrete block, combined with the deep cuts into the structure for doors and windows, speak to the tradition of Gothic Revival.
