OPEN CHRISTCHURCH 2022: Christ Church Cathedral

Get behind the fences of Christchurch’s most talked about building in the post-quake rebuild and learn more about its restoration, history and architecture. Originally designed by starchitect Scott, whose work can be found all over the world thanks to the British Empire, this is one of Ōtautahi’s buildings that speaks most clearly to early colonisation, the role of the Anglican church and organised European settlement. Hear about the importance of Gothic Revival as the dominant architectural colonial style and the ongoing renovation from those in the know.
