Radical in its time and enduring in its historical importance, Sir Miles Warren’s Dorset St flats marked the beginnings of a new type of residential living and a style soon to be synonymous with our city: Christchurch Modern. These purpose-designed city dwellings sing Brutalist ethic and aesthetic. Exposed load-bearing concrete block walls, concrete beams and axial planning are material proof of a young architect developing his vocabulary and honing his craft.
