Open Christchurch 2022: Kohinga St Albans Community Centre – The Good Wood Story
Event description
OPEN CHRISTCHURCH 2022: Kohinga St Albans Community Centre – The Good Wood Story
The hottest new thing in sustainable building is uh… wood. Timber innovation is creating cutting edge design opportunities and Christchurch has its own exemplar, Kohinga St Albans Community Centre. This low-carbon building is built almost entirely of wood, using prefabricated panels of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).
Come along and listen to the stories behind the building’s design and construction from the architect, Crispin Schurr from CCC, designer, Daniel Moroder from PTL Structural Consultants and the construction team from Watts and Hughes Construction. This is also an opportunity to discover more about CLT from Andy Buchanan and the team at PTL Structural Consultants who have developed world leading timber building systems right here in Christchurch.
Kohinga will be open to explore on sat 30 April between 10am and 3:30pm.
