Event description

This tour invites visitors into the private world of Heide Museum of Modern Art founders John and Sunday Reed, exploring the domestic legacy and now public space of their award-winning former residence Heide Modern.

The architecture of Heide Modern reflects the site’s transformation from a rural homestead to the art museum it is today. In 1963, when John and Sunday outgrew the original farmhouse on the property, they commissioned David McGlashan of the architecture firm McGlashan and Everist to design a new residence in the modernist style as ‘a gallery to be lived in’. Upon completion in 1968 Heide Modern was awarded the RAIA (Victorian Chapter) Bronze Medal and in 2016 it received the AIA (Victorian Chapter) Enduring Architecture Award. Today it continues to inspire and delight architects, designers, artists, curators and visitors alike.

*Heide Museum entry Included.
