Open House Melbourne Blackburn North Passive House Retrofit
Our house is a passive house enerphit project. This leaky 1950’s weatherboard home has been transformed into one of Australia’s highest preforming homes by giving it a deep energy retrofit by appling passive house principles. The home showcases the benefits of this type of design rather then a knockdown rebuild, we are reducing waste and embodied energy in the build and contributing to a sustainable future. The open day will focus on the benefits of passive house and showcase the steps and result of applying this to a renovation.
There is only a small number of enerphit homes in Australia. The homes unique build and repurposed features will be presented. The overall aim is to spread education on this process and passive house principles that will hopefully change the way we build in Melbourne and Australia that benefits the health of it’s residents and the earth. Healthy homes, healthy people.
Dylan, Director of Alwyn Projects to present the principles of passive house and detail around the build and function of the home. Visitors will learn the process and benefits of passive house and also the benefits of reusing site materials. The home has a number of special features that focus on repurposing and embodied carbon.
