About the Workshop

Do you want to improve your scales, or perhaps you have an audition coming up? Join this workshop to boost your playing skills and to learn how to make scales and arpeggios fun!

In the first part, we will do group exercises to improve technique and musicality, inspired by Anna's classes with her teacher Raymond Guiot, a student of Marcel Moyse. You will then have the opportunity to share your recent work in the second part – whether it's a study, piece, exercise, or scale! Be prepared to share something if you wish or come along to be inspired by others.

About Anna Henwood

OMA Flute teacher Anna Henwood is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Adelaide and a dedicated educator. With a diverse musical and educational background, she holds several postgraduate degrees in Music, Italian, and Education.

Feedback from about previous sessions

Under Anna's guidance, the students explored books by Marcel Moyse, using exercises by Raymond Guiot, refining their technique, tone, and musicality. Working together on repertoire and personal goals also provided the opportunity for valuable feedback, boosting confidence, further goal-setting, and pride in their achievements.

The students found the exercises thought-provoking, with different tempos enhancing their lip technique, while playing in thirds and groups of threes made the exercises more achievable. Witnessing the students' collaboration and dedication, regardless of their individual playing levels, was truly inspiring.
