Venue:  Schulz Building- North Terrace, Adelaide - see map (use the west lifts)
Time: 10.30am - 11.30am
Instrument: classical guitar
Who can join?
Participants must be of school age and have 18mths - 2 years/4-6 school terms playing experience.
- Can confidently play and read all open strings from tablature or notation.
- Has some understanding of basic open chords shapes.
- Can name and play all natural notes on the first three strings (high E string, B and G strings).
- Confidence with playing and reading these notes is not essential but an awareness is required.
- Can read/copy basic rhythms.
Why join an ensemble?
Playing music in groups is really good for learning. It helps you work together with others, improving how you collaborate, communicate, and be a team. When you play music together, you also get better at reading and understanding the music, listening and responding to what others are doing, and taking turns leading or following. Being part of a music group makes you feel like you belong and helps you make friends, which is good for your feelings. In the end, playing music in a group gives you a well-rounded learning experience that helps you get better at music and love it for your whole life.
About Caleb Lavery-Brook
Caleb Lavery-Brook has built an outstanding career in the music industry, showcasing his skills and talent across various prestigious platforms. Caleb completed his Master of Philosophy in 2021 at the Elder Conservatorium under Dr. Oliver Fartach-Naini. He received a mentorship with renowned ARIA award winning guitarist Slava Grigoryan, supported by the Helpmann Academy. Achievements include multiple First Prizes in various competitions and prestigious scholarships such as the EMR Travel Scholarship and a scholarship from Classical Guitar Corner (based in New York). Throughout his career, Caleb has delighted audiences with remarkable performances at prestigious events including the Adelaide Guitar Festival and the Korean International Guitar Festival. Caleb has also collaborated with esteemed ensembles and participated in an opera production with the South Australian State Opera.
