Event description

Terrariums are a low-fuss way to keep happy indoor plants. Terrariums can be closed, creating a micro self-watering ecosystem. Or they can be open - which best suits succulents and cacti.

In this class, we will learn how to make our own open terrarium from scratch. This includes how to layer our terrariums for both drainage and water retention, suitable soils, and of course, decoration and "mini-landscaping"!

So become a landscaper for an evening and have lots of fun designing your own terrarium that you will take home at the end of the night!

All tools and materials are provided in the ticket price.

What will we cover?

Join us and learn:

  • How to layer a terrarium for functionality, so it lives a long life
  • How to make it pretty and “landscape” your terrarium
  • What plants work well and which ones to cluster together
  • How to keep your new plant-babies happy and healthy

    Accessibility

    • Wheelchair Accessible Venue
    • Gender Neutral Bathrooms
    • Free Tickets to First Nation Attendees

    Who will be teaching?

Maddy (she/her) is a crafty hobbyist based in Naarm who has a big heart for colour and expression. She enjoys working with all sorts of materials and mediums, and repurposing everyday items into expressions of art and fashion. As a musician, these wonky and not-so-wonky creations often find their way onto stages around Melbourne.

Maddy enjoys carving and printing lino cuts, paper collage, and combining the two. She also enjoys gardening, especially getting her hands dirty! She grew up in regional Victoria where where family home was an Open Garden and commercial nursery.
