Opening Event: New Exhibitions
Event description
Join us for the official opening of our next suite of exhibitions at Campbelltown Arts Centre.
Linda Sok: Reincarnations of an altar cloth
A solo exhibition of works from the ongoing series ‘Deities in Temples’ by Cambodian-Australian artist Linda
Sok.
Delving into the matrilineally handed down practice of Pidan, the ‘Deities in Temples’ series presents re-imaginings of lost, stolen, collected, and destroyed silk weavings. Through this body of work, Sok engages with decolonial practices and methodologies to reclaim fragments of her Cambodian heritage.
Jiva Parthipan: Pakiboy²
Pakiboy² is a multi-channel film installation comprising documentation of an original dance work created by Jiva
Parthipan (London, 2000), alongside a restaging, in which the artist dances with his younger self (Sydney,
2025). The installation explores the artist’s 50-year-old body, which has not danced for two decades,
addressing his degenerative neurological condition (Parkinson’s Disease) and the ageing body.
Peter Gregson: Volcanoes & Tornadoes
‘Volcanoes & Tornadoes’ presents work by the late Peter Gregson, a Kameygal man from Sydney’s La Perouse region, and an important member of the Little Orange studio program.
Friends Annual and Focus
The ‘Friends Annual’ provides a unique opportunity to witness the rich artistic talent that the region has to offer.
The ‘Focus’ exhibition highlights the work of one artist or collective from the Friends of Campbelltown Arts
Centre and provides an in-depth look at their practice.
