Melville Contemporary 2025

Melville Contemporary is a biennial art commissioning program for experimental art. In 2025 it awards commissions to seven Western Australian artists to produce exploratory new work for group exhibition at Goolugatup Heathcote.

The Melville Contemporary 2025 artists are Amy Perejuan-Capone, Andrew Varano, Bennett Miller, Brighde O'Hara, Bryce Olsen, Pip Lewi and Mohammed 'Ayo Busari'.

Goolugatup Sounds returns with another evening of expansive sound, blurring the lines of genre and form.

AYO BUSARI dissolves boundaries, conjuring a pulse where live percussion, electronic drums, synthesizers and spoken poetry entwine.

Backed by lush guitar and accordion, MELĀNIJA summons shadowy soundscapes of witch house and folklore, weaving lyrics in English and Latvian together in spectral counterpoint.

Eclectic selector, DJ Sliding Doors serves up a smörgåsbord of post-disco, boogie, synth pop and post punk. Attuned to the mood, she is unafraid to jump between genres and let her instincts take the wheel.

It is 10-minute drive from the CBD, and ample free parking is available. The closest train station is Canning Bridge, and the closest bus route the 148.
