Wester Gallery is proud to present a new solo exhibition by Melisah May, a Newcastle-based artist whose practice transforms the quiet chaos of domestic and maternal life into powerful, expressive abstraction.

Through dynamic brushstrokes, instinctive colour, and layered mark-making, May’s work explores memory, transformation, and the resilience embedded in everyday cycles of care and repetition. Influenced by the female Abstract Expressionists of 1950s New York, her canvases echo gestures of brushing, scrubbing, and washing, reimagining the unseen rhythms of home into a bold visual language.
