Opera in the Garden
Event description
Step into a world where the magic of opera intertwines with the serene beauty of nature, as the Adelaide Botanic Garden sets the perfect stage for a night of captivating arias, duets and ensemble pieces.
Opera and gardens share a deep connection—both offer a refuge from the everyday, a space for contemplation, and a celebration of beauty.
This concert showcases favourite operatic moments, featuring many connected with nature such as the Flower Duet from Delibes Lakme, a shimmering piece that captures the delicate beauty of a garden in full bloom, Offenbach’s Barcarolle, a hauntingly beautiful duet that evokes the tranquility of a moonlit garden, and Si, Mi Chiamano Mimi, from La Boheme.
Featured performers include award winning South Australian soprano, Teresa La Rocca, who has performed lead roles with Opera Australia and State Opera of South Australia and is known for her soaring voice and dramatic presence; tenor Mark Oates, just returned from his debut with Opera Australia reprising the dual roles of Duncan/Dunstan in Watershed: The Death of Dr. Duncan, and known for his charisma and powerful tenor voice; baritone Jeremy Tatchell, a regular soloist with State Opera of SA known for his rich, velvety voice, and popular duo, Rachel and Elizabeth McCall, celebrated for the remarkable synergy they bring to their duets and ensemble work.
Opera in the Garden is presented by Elizabeth McCall.
