Opera in the Orchard – Henry Choo & Dimity Shepherd
Event description
Returning to one of the Festival’s most loved venues, Opera in the Orchard invites audiences to experience an unforgettable evening of music beneath the stars.
Internationally acclaimed artists Henry Choo (tenor) and Dimity Shepherd (mezzo-soprano) will be joined by pianist Joseph Beckitt, performing a captivating program that bridges the worlds of opera and popular song - from the fiery passion of Carmen and the doomed romance of West Side Story to the lush beauty of Gershwin’s Summertime and the rousing Nessun Dorma.
The evening will open with a special 15-minute performance by Joshua Han, winner of the 2024 Australian National Piano Award, before Henry and Dimity deliver two stunning 45-minute sets.
Enjoy the beauty of Findon Gardens with pre-ordered hampers showcasing local produce, a fully stocked bar for drinks purchase, and the freedom to bring your own picnic or non-alcoholic beverages. Each hamper features a delicious assortment of regional cheeses, charcuterie, and sweet treats.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners, the Yorta Yorta Nation and the clans whose lands cover the area now called Greater Shepparton, the Kailtheban, Bangerang, and Ngurai Illum Wurrung. We acknowledge that First Peoples have never ceded sovereignty over their lands. This always was, and always will be, their country. We are conscious that colonial laws and practices led to displacement and disempowerment, and that they continue to do so with a profound and rippling effect. We pay respect to Elders past and present, and to emerging leaders. We value their vision and strength that enabled the continuity of culture and connectedness to country.
