The Opera Otago Gala 2021: An Operatic Celebration.

Opera Otago warmly invites you to celebrate life and hope through an evening of operatic favourites at the Hutton Theatre.

Our stellar line-up sees mezzo-soprano Claire Barton, baritones Federico Freschi, Scott Bezett and Teddy Finney Waters joined by sopranos Olivia Pike, Erica Paterson, Rhiannon Cooper, Sarah Hubbard and Lillian Gibbs guide you through dramatic situations and entertaining moments from opera.

Opera Otago is pleased to have New Zealand’s leading accompanist Terence Dennis joined by Sharon McLennan and Cameron Monteath throughout the evening.

COVID-19 has cancelled major productions and engagements for our performers over the past two years. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear them live and together for one night only!

Opera Otago is proud to be New Zealand’s longest running opera company, producing opera for over 60 years! We aim to present two productions per year, a large-scale production and a production aimed at children, with workshops and tours of the region where time and resources permit. Our Executive Committee is made up of several enthusiastic and talented individuals with a broad range of experience and knowledge that we utilise in running the company. As a not-for-profit volunteer organisation, Opera Otago relies on grants from local and national businesses and trusts to support it. We also rely on individual supporters who make up our audience, our membership base, and who can donate to help us to maintain a quality home of Opera in the South of New Zealand.
