    Event description

Join Aotearoa's organic community for an Organic Action Day.

It’s time for change! Since the launch of the 2022-25 Organic Sector Strategy ‘Taking Action for a Better New Zealand’ was launched late last year, Organic Sector volunteers have met regularly to drive forward the key projects. Today each group will form a panel, present their work to date and engage the audience in a discussion about the future.

Join us for this crucial moment and together we can drive forward the growth of organics in Aotearoa.

    11:00 am - 11:40 am | Doors Open, Welcome & Karakia
Enjoy a cup of organic tea or coffee provided by IncaFe, plus an opportunity to network.

11:40 am - 5:00 pm | Sector Strategy Progress Overview, Presentations & Panel Discussion + Lunch & two very Special Guest Speakers
Today's Action Day is an opportunity to hear from each of the groups, and to learn about the goals, roadmaps, accomplishments and next steps. There will be an opportunity to answer questions and workshop ideas to help support the group at the end of each presentation.

Each strategy action session is 45 minutes long and includes the following projects:

    • Organic Farmer Extension Programme
    • Organic Ecosystem Database
    • Agriculture Industry Collaborations
    • Increase Consumer Recognition of Organics as an Effective Environment and Nutritional Solution
    • Support the Organics Products Bill, Regulations and Standard

    Panellists include:

Guest Speaker: Karen Mapusua, President IFOAM Organics International
Karen Mapusua is the President of IFOAM Organics International and works for the Pacific Community in agricultural development, based in Fiji and serving 22 Pacific Island states. Guest Speaker: Dr Jessica Hutchings (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Huirapa, Gujarati), Kaupapa Māori research leader, Hua Parakore (Māori organic) farmer and yoga teacher
Jessica lives on a small whānau food farm in Kaitoke, North of Wellington and is Hua Parakore verified.
