"Hidden Tunes 弦外之影" - An Original Mando-Pop Musical (Special Performance + Q&A)
Event description
Small Ripples Theatre aims to provide a platform for Asian artists to get involved in creating original theatre and tell impactful stories. Our past productions include the sold-out season of "Best Cabinet Maker" musical. "Hidden Tunes" is our latest production, written in Mandarin and accompanied by Chinese traditional instruments.
"Hidden Tunes 弦外之影" is a Mando-pop musical accompanied by traditional Chinese instruments. Set in a prestigious music academy, the story follows two classmates, Xiao Qian and A Jia, who are brought together by their shared passion for music and composition. When darkness falls, will their friendship be enough to carry them through the emotional turmoil? Can we recognize when a friend is in need? And what can we do for them?
Content Warning: Mentions and discussions of sexual harassment. No sexual violence is depicted on stage but it is discussed by characters throughout the show. Sexism and misogyny.
"Hidden Tunes" is a participating show in La Mama‘s Festival of Mother Tongues (22/11-24/11), which will feature 17 shows presented in 13 different languages. "Hidden Tunes" is the only Mandarin show in the mix. For tickets to the festival run: https://lamama.com.au/whats-on...
